Permanent Housing

The following charts show the number of people newly placed into housing, the number of placements supported by the Metro Supportive Housing Services (SHS) Measure funding, and the demographics of those placed into housing.

Note: Multnomah County’s Fiscal Year (FY) runs from July 1 – June 30.

New Housing Placements

This new housing placements chart shows the number of people who moved from homelessness into permanent housing (cumulative by quarter).

SHS Housing Placements

This chart shows the number of permanent housing placements that were made possible by the Metro SHS Measure funding (cumulative by quarter).

New Housing Placements: Demographics

This chart shows the number of people who moved from homelessness into permanent housing, broken down by demographics.

Homelessness Prevention

This chart shows the number of people who received rental or other assistance to avoid homelessness.

Rent Assistance

This chart shows the number of people/households who received rent assistance to prevent them from falling into homelessness.

A bar chart shows homelessness prevention enrollments totaled 35549 in FY 2022, 30087 in FY 2023, 18806 in FY 2024.

Emergency Shelter

These charts show the number of people who were served in overnight short-term shelters, along with the total capacity of these shelters.

Shelter Capacity

This chart shows the number of available shelter beds at JOHS-supported short-term shelters.

Average shelter capacity (only includes shelters in Multnomah County that receive funding from the Joint Office of Homeless Services)

Shelter Utilization

This chart represents the percent of available shelter beds that are occupied on any given night in JOHS-supported short-term shelters.
